IN THE MUSIC WORLD--Aaron Mitchell is an indie-western folk/country singer, songwriter and visual artist.
Aaron's a heart wailer; deciphering codes and honoring the whispers of the muse. Authentic---vulnerable, poetic, entertaining and humorous.
Born beneath the wide skies of Fort Lupton, Colorado—a rural town where life moves slow and the horizon never ends—Aaron grew up a dreamer, a restless soul in cowboy boots with a Walkman full of punk & alt rock. But the prairie couldn’t hold him forever. In his early twenties, he set out for Chicago, chasing neon lights, noise, and the rhythm of a city that never sleeps.
In those early years, his heart beat in time with new wave, punk, indie, and alternative—raw, rebellious, electric. But as he pounded pavement and poured himself into smoky venues, a strange, poetic twist of fate took hold. The wild child from the plains began to fall under the spell of the very sounds he once left behind: the ghosts of country legends—Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash, Dylan, John Prine, Townes Van Zandt—whispered their stories through crackling vinyl and late-night radio static.
It wasn’t nostalgia. It was revelation.
With every lyric he wrote, Aaron stitched together a new identity—equal parts city grit and country soul. He found his voice in the in-between. As the magnetic frontman and lead songwriter of Chicago’s alt-country powerhouse DIRTY GREEN, he brought that sound to life onstage with swagger and sincerity.
Now, standing at the edge of a new chapter, Aaron is turning the spotlight inward. His solo work is a bold return to the roots he never truly left—an evocative blend of heartland honesty and big-city fire. A storyteller. A wanderer. A voice that echoes across highways and alleyways alike.
